Dune Strokes is a collection of photographs that captures the essence of sand dunes in the Sahara Desert of Mauritania. The collection features a series of textures, shapes, and details that create a stunning visual representation of the desert landscape.
As a photographer, I have always been fascinated by the contrast and interplay between nature and humans. However, in this collection, I wanted to focus on the beauty of the desert and its most iconic representation: the sand dunes. The dunes are a mesmerizing sight to behold, they are not just simple mounds of sand, but they are complex structures that are constantly changing and evolving. The wind and other natural forces create intricate patterns and textures on the surface of the dunes, which are captured in stunning detail in these photographs.
I wanted to capture their beauty and their soul sharing with the viewer the powerful resemblance with abstract paintings. The complex patterns and textures found in the dunes create a mesmerizing visual display that, when captured in detail, can create stunning photographs that blur the line between reality and art.
What stands out is the interplay between light and shadow. The dunes are constantly changing as the sun moves across the sky, casting shadows and highlighting different aspects of the landscape. The photographs in the Dune Strokes collection capture these changes, showcasing the beauty and complexity of the desert landscape.
The pieces are meant to be displayed vertically (see signature), but the collector can decide to hang them in any direction they feel more connecting with.
